Cady’s Falls Nursery RevisitedThis post was published back in May of 2009, but was temporarily lost due to some recent technical difficulties, so I have decided to republish it. The photographs of lush greenery put a smile on my face as I look out the window at the slushy snow. Situated in the rolling hills of Morrisville, Vermont, lies Cady’s Falls Nursery, a horticultural highlight of New England. Their established gardens offer an amazing display of beauty and creativity. What began as a dairy farm was transformed in 1980 into the nursery we know today. As I stroll through the gardens, I feel as though I have been transported to a place made of fairies and magic. The nursery is family-operated, and they produce over 24,000 plants per year, 90 percent of which they propagate themselves. They offer many classics, but specialize in the rare, unusual, or the hard to find. The display gardens offer perennials, dwarf and weeping conifers, a woodland garden, rock and wall garden, bog garden, pond garden, as well as an amazing variety of vines, hostas, and ladyslippers. 33 comments to Cady’s Falls Nursery Revisited |

Hi Liisa! Wonderful gardens and sculptures too. I love the ladies and the frog and I agree there is enough snow outside! Great to see these lovely greens and pinks. So glad you did not lose this post! I think a visit might be necessary come Spring. Carol
It is just awesome! I am glad you republished it. I think those evergreens most cool. I wish you the best for the upcoming year.
Carol,
Hope you are staying warm – looks like we’re in for some more frosty temperatures.
You would absolutely love it. The gardens truly are a work of art.
Tina,
I love those evergreens, too. They have an extensive collection of dwarf and unusual conifers. My catalog is full of pink, orange, and green highlighter – and my wish list is ever growing. Best wishes to you in 2010!!
Stunning gardens and a great treat for the dead of winter!
Hello,
Thank you for such a special treat. Beautiful green landscapes to view in the dead of winter. I love the weeping trees, especially.
What a wonderful nursery….. wish I lived closer! I am in total lust for the beautiful Cypripediums….. hopefully they will become a focus here at Teza’s Garden this coming garden season! Fingers crossed!
I’m so glad you found this post, the trees and flowers were just what I needed to see. It’s just beautiful there!
Phillip,
Glad you enjoyed the tour. The vibrant colors are almost shocking to me today, as everything outside was covered in a thick blanket of snow yesterday and last night.
Noelle,
I love their collection of weeping conifers, too. When I discovered the nursery, one of the first things I purchased was a Weeping European Larch. The husband and wife that operate the nursery have trained many of the conifers in their display gardens to the most interesting shapes and forms.
Teza,
Ah… the stuff of dreams!!
You would just love this place. Their collection of Cypripediums is wonderful – they offer showy ladyslippers as well as hybrids and other species. I love the showies and C. kentuckiense (Southern Ladyslipper) with large cream-colored slippers with long twisted sepals and petals striped and mottled in purple. I believe most of their collection is featured on their website.
Catherine,
It is refreshing to take in the rich, vibrant colors – they make one long for spring, don’t they?! For now we will have to settle for planning… and I hope you are enjoying planning your front garden! I can’t wait to see your plans unfold come spring.
Wow, what a fabulous looking place. The photo of the lady slippers made my heart skip a beat. How I’d love to have a clump of those in my garden! Happy New Year Liisa.
Kathleen,
It certainly is a treat to visit! I’d love to have a couple clumps of ladyslippers, too, once I’ve got a spot all set up for them. Glad you enjoyed the photos, and best wishes for the New Year!!
que bonito jardin y que bellas fotografias. Felicidades
Gracias, Kiti. Me alegra que hayas disfrutado de las fotografías. Feliz Año Nuevo!
I long for those warm, green spring days once more. Is winter over yet? No? Darn! Don’t be fooled by those roses that were still blooming in early December. It was definitely NOT the norm, and they are long gone now. But I sure enjoyed the extended bloom season.
Just beautiful!
Robin,
What a treat to have roses in December, if only this once. I am afraid we will not be seeing any signs of spring for a few months yet, but I am so looking forward to it. I hope you had a wonderful holiday, and best wishes for the New Year!!
Thank you, Teresa. Best wishes for the New Year!!
A wonderful post – so glad you republished and best wishes for the New Year!
Hi Liisa, these green green great photos are just what is needed on a rock hard frozen winter’s day, thanks! I was happily smiling while scrolling then came to the lady’s slippers and my eyes nearly popped out the their sockets! What a sight to behold in real life, that must be. A wonderful nursery, thanks for showing those cheering pix.
Frances
Galloping Gardener,
This place is always a treat to visit! I hope 2010 brings you happiness, health, and fabulous adventure!!
Frances,
The ladyslippers are quite a sight, aren’t they? I sat there admiring them for quite some time. You would so enjoy this place, Frances!! Every time I visit I discover something new.
I’m happy to add some color to your day!
Hi Liisa, I am so glad you decided to republish. This is my favourite type of garden, that evokes fairies and magic. The sculptures are so wonderful, I had to control myself not to kiss the toad. And the ladyslippers awesome. Cheers, catmint
catmint,
Happy New Year!!
So glad you enjoyed the *tour*… it certainly is a magical place!
I am glad I visited your blog. Beautiful photos! I love the flowers in the second to last photo …very pretty! -Amy
Amy,
Thank you for visiting! The extensive collection of Primrose in the display gardens offer such beautiful shades of pink, magenta, and white… they really are quite lovely.
Ahh – your picture warm me up on this figid day in Canada! Almost as good as being near a warm fire. Thanks.
Wonderful blog! I found my way here through Blotanical. It’s such a pleasure to see pictures from the summer, the tree in the 5th picture is spectacular. I looked back at your old posts, and the May Daffodil posts was beautiful. I moved away from my usual yellow this year, and planted white with coral & pink trumpets, I can hardly wait til spring. I’m also in zone 4, so we share similar growing conditions.
Rebecca
Welcome, Rebecca! The daffodils with coral and pink trumpets are quite beautiful, and I look forward to seeing yours come spring! This time of year I start getting a little antsy for spring, and enjoy photographs from last year’s garden as well as a visit to a greenhouse or two!!
Happy New Year!!
GP,
If I’m having a bad day I sometimes come here for a walk through the gardens… so uplifting and inspiring.
I am so glad you enjoyed the photos. This nursery is good for warming the soul.
Enjoyed my visit, will be back again soon
